The Church of Pentecost has distanced themselves from the comments of an elder of the church who advocated horny teens be allowed to have s*x as long as they use condoms.

Nii Armah Hammond, a counsellor with the church in Achimota, passed his controversial comments on a radio program aimed at the youth.

He said due to the stigma attached to teen pregnancy and its associated problems, teenagers who cannot control themselves should be educated to use condoms when they have s*x.

In a statement, however, the Church of Pentecost have condemned the comments, making it clear they do not condone pre-marital s*x.

Signed by General Secretary Apostle Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, it said the church holds that any s*x outside of marriage is a sin, and said their main focus is teaching abstinence and not condom use.

” In the light of discussions involving an Elder of The Church of Pentecost (COP) on sex and condom usage among teenagers and the youth, we wish to offer the following comments” the statement reads.

“S*xuality has been abused over the years by man due to the fall.  God in His own wisdom has restricted sex to married couples.  S*x outside marriage is regarded as sin in the sight of God (1 Corinthians 6:13-20; 1 Thessalonians 4:2-8), whether it is engaged in with condoms on or not.  For Christians therefore, using condoms for s*x outside marriage to prevent pregnancy or diseases is not a biblical option.

“The Church will always encourage and advocate bringing up our children and youth to live according to biblical principles of abstinence and fidelity, and would not teach on what ways could be found to avoid the harmful consequences of engaging in things that God forbids us to do in His word.”

This is why many people attend church yet they don’t do what the church preaches – because churches remain stuck in ancient mentality. Abstinence does not work and people will always be people and have s*x – so advocating safe s*x is better than being naive and pretend because the church says so, nobody would have s*x until they are married. At least with safe s*x, pregnancy, std’s and the like can be prevented.

The elder was and remains right, the church’s stance would lead to more problems than it would solve.
