President Akufo-Addo spoke a lot about his Special Prosecutor initiative during is campaigning, saying, the person will be an independent prosecutor unconnected to the Attorney Genera Department –and that he will become some sort of citizen vigilante but backed by the government to prosecute wrong-doing state officials.

According to Abusua Fm, kufo Addo has now “named renowned lawyer, Akoto Ampaw as the special independent prosecutor of government.”

The website adds that; “The nomination, if true, will see the lawyer independently investigate and prosecute various economic crimes under the NPP administration.”

“…hopefully that person is going to be somebody who commands the respect of the society and at the same time has an independent mind to make the decisions,” Nana Addo revealed to the BBC.
