Andre Ayew Blames Referee For Ghana’s Defeat Against Egypt

Deputy Black Stars skipper Andre Morgan Ayew has laid some blame at the feet of the officials for Ghana’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Egypt.

Speaking after the game, Ayew said the official on the day was not fair and that hindered the Stars’ efforts to win the game.

“Refereeing should have been better towards us,” he told BEIN Sports after the game.

“We were dominant for long spells especially in the second half. Egypt didn’t create many clear-cut chances apart from the free-kick goal.” he added.

The Black Stars lost their second game in three months to the Pharaohs, after Mohammed Salah put them 1-0 ahead with an 11th minute freekick. Despite a good second half, we were unable to equalise.

The results meant Egypt topped the group instead of Ghana, and thus meets Morocco in their quarter final Sunday. Ghana plays the DRC at 1600 GMT, also on Sunday.
