I can’t Think Far On Making Akan A National Language – Opoku Prempeh

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh,  Designated Minister For Education, wants Ghanaians to abort the idea of adopting a local language to be a lingua franca by which students will be taught in.

This comes after the Medical Doctor was asked during his vetting about his perception on the choice of language Ghanaian students should be taught in to enhance better education.

He said, inasmuch as the NPP appreciates culture and will reinstitute History Of Ghana  into the primary educational curriculum as a subject, adopting one local language to teach students will only be a step backwards.

He explained that our educational system trains our students for global purposes too and not just for the Ghanaian market, hence such an option shouldn’t be welcomed at all.

The Manhyia South MP lamented that even Kwame Nkrumah failed at that because the choice of the Ghanaian Language to teach in will be a hell fire.

“We have benefited so much from English Language, we have to promote it … it doesn’t make us less human” said Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh.
