Recalcitrant Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh has agreed to step down and would be leaving the country.
New President Adama Barrow tweeted not long ago that after talks, Jammeh has finally relinquished his hold on the country and would be allowed to depart.
“I would like to inform you that Yaya Jammeh agreed to relinquish power and leave the country.” the official twitter account of Adama Barrow tweeted.
Jammeh had been given a deadline of today to vacate or face the military might of the sub regional body ECOWAS. Yet after missing two deadlines, it seems the impasse is finally over.
