41st President of the United States of America, George Herbert Walker Bush, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Texas Wednesday after suffering pneumonia.

Bush’s wife Barbara also got admitted to the same hospital not long after, but entirely as a precaution in her case, a spokesperson for the family said.

Bush and wife Barbara are 92 and 91 years of age respectively.

The father of 43rd US President George Walker, Bush was initially admitted to the Houston Methodist hospital on Saturday, but got far worse yesterday and had to be sent to the ICU after undergoing a procedure.

He was treated for “an acute respiratory problem stemming from pneumonia”, according to a statement released by the family. His wife Barbara was admitted as a precaution after suffering fatigue and coughing.

“Doctors and everyone are very pleased, and we hope to have him out soon,” Family spokesperson Jim McGrath said.

He added: “I don’t think there’s a whole lot of money to be gained betting against George Bush. We’re just kind of in a wait-and-see mode.”
