Tv personality Kafui Dey has finally spoken out on the embarrassing video of him which circulated during the heat of the election period, saying whilst his detractors wanted it to be a moment of shame, for him it was something far from that.
The GhOne Tv host was hosting the station’s election coverage deep into the night when his eyes betrayed him at a point and he was caught ‘dozing’ right on camera.
The gaffe was immediately posted on social media and travelled far and wide, but Dey, speaking to Flex Newspaper about the incident, said rather than being an embarrassment, he saw the video as a funny moment which simply helped Ghanaians reduce tension at a very tense time.
“I am not embarrassed at all, my video is quite funny. I started getting calls and WhatsApp messages because of the video. I actually laughed over it too.” he told the publication.
“My people at GH One also did a story on the video and showed it on TV. I shared it with my 145,000 Twitter followers and even showed it to my kids.”
Kafui, however, was keen to correct what he thought was one misconception about the video.
“I wasn’t dozing though; I was just trying to keep awake. I broadcasted for about 12hours on both radio and TV, so I think I was a bit tired,”
