‘Onaapo’ Hitmaker Nacee Denies Being An NDC Supporter

The composer of the most popular song of the just ended political campaign, ‘Onaapo’, Nacee, has come out to clarify his political position, saying that he is not an NDC supporter.

The gospel artiste, speaking on Abusua Fm, said he was simply a composer who made the song professionally for the NDC, revealing he had even composed a song for former President Kuffour once.

“I am not an NDC supporter, I am not a card bearing member of any political party, I have never been.” Nacee said on Abusua Drive.

“I composed a song for former President Kufour but it didn’t come out because my media connection was limited, besides the internet was not in vogue [at the time], so after composing the song, you just have to deliver to the fellow who contracted you. There was nothing like social media then, no WhatsApp, Facebook, and there were few media houses, though we played it at their various campaign platforms, it wasn’t a hit,” he added.

Speaking further, Nacee added that rumours about how much he was paid for the song are wide off the mark, and wondered why musicians are attacked when they are perceived to support one party or another.

“Its not true that I was given billion of cedis for the song, the song is about creativity, hence its streetism touch,’ he said.

He added: “Political parties especially members of the main parties NDC and NPP need to be educated on how to tolerate their opponents,”
