The Supreme Court of Ghana is currently considering three lawsuits brought before it to re-arrest the infamous ‘Montie three”–who were pardoned by President Mahama after they were sentenced to prison for threatening members of the court and also threatening to rape the Chief Justice Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood.

According to a report by JOY FM, Nana Asante Bediatuo, one of the plaintiffs of the suits “is convinced that the presidential pardon granted the three was unconstitutional.”

Bediatuo argues that though the president has the power to pardon people convicted for criminal offences, he does not have same to pardon convicts for criminal contempt.

The hearing of the case began at the Supreme Court today-Thursday.
