The jokes and serious debates are on: several Ghanaians have taken to Facebook to express their shock about Ghana’s new president-Nana Akufo Addo’s appointment of 36 Ministers so far–with more possibly to come.
While some are confused and furious, others are optimistic that the new President, a beacon of hope for many knows what he’s doing–and believe the appointees will all come together, to work for the betterment of Ghana.
The President has today put forward eleven names to join his government in addition to the 25 he has already named the previous two days, bringing his substantive ministerial appointments to 36 and they will reasonably come deputies.
Interesting among the list is Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development –with Boniface Saddique as the appointed Minister. Several social media commentators seem confused as to the true reason and need for this Ministry.
We also now have Special Development Initiatives Ministry – with Hawa Mavis Koomson as the Minister. Here, some think developing Ghanaian Zongos is a special development initiative and should have rightfully fallen under this Ministry, not to have its own Ministry. Why must there be these two ministries seemingly set up to perform the same function, many are wondering.
It’s obvious; Ghanaians are on the watch out and each movement of Akufo Addo will be well monitored, debated and analysed–which is great for democracy and accountability.
Now, flip to the next pages to see what Ghanaians on social media are saying…
