The Black Stars of Ghana continue their free fall down the Fifa World Rankings table as they end up ninth on the continent and 54th in the world in the January rankings released just before the upcoming Cup of Nations.
Ghana remain outside the world’s top 50 as most of their top Afcon challengers remain in the top rankings globally.
Senegal tops the African ranking, 33rd in the world and just ahead of defending Afcon Champions Cote d’Ivoire. The pair are followed by Ghana’s group opponents Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria.
Globally, Argentina lead, followed by Brazil, Germany, Chile and Belgium.
