General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said the outcome of the December 7 election really shocked him–as he thought it would have been a ‘cool chop’ for NDC’s President Mahama.
Asiedu Nketiah said on Asempa Fm that looking at the infrastructure the Mahama-led administration put up, the NDC expected nothing short of a landslide victory.
Contrary to the expectation of Asiedu Nketiah and the NDC, John Mahama only managed to secire 4,713,277 votes representing 44.4 percent and President Akufo-Addo polled 5,716, 026 representing 53 percent of the total votes cast–with the NPP also winning an overwhelming majority of parliamentary seats.
Beyond the shock, Asiedu Nketiah said on Tuesday that all party members are to blame for their defeat. And that, a committee has been set up to diagnose the real reason for the defeat to enable the NDC correct their wrongs and forge ahead in unity–so to win the next election.
