Kenyans have been on social media taking the piss out of their President, Uhuru Kenyatta, ever since he commissioned the construction of a footbridge in Mombasa last week.
Mr Kenyatta faces reelection in August and according to Kenyans, he has become a little too fond of launching projects up and down the country, even ones that do not deserve Presidential attention.
The launching of the footbridge, for instance, was accompanied by much fanfare and was described as the launch of a “non-motorized transport project”. Other projects, Kenyans say, were already underway or had already been commissioned before the President made his way to take credit for them.
Any of this remind you of anyone?
Anyway, Kenyans have taken to twitter to mock their ‘commissioner-general’ of a President, taking on the #UhuruChallenge to see what each and everyone of them, in their own small way, can launch. As is usual with twitter challenges, the hilarity on show is fantastic.
Flip through the pages to check out the best #UhuruChallenge responses by exasperated Kenyans. They should not worry, as our elections show – trying to fool the people does not always work out.
