Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City have acquired young Ghanaian winger Latif Blessing from Liberty Professionals after a stellar year for the 20 year old.
Latif joins on a two year deal with an option for a third, the club announced Monday – pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
“We have scouted Latif and been very impressed with what we’ve seen from him,” Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said.
“The great thing we love about him is that he is young, but with a lot of upside as evidence by his goal scoring record with his previous club. With every player you acquire, you always feel they have potential, but we also think he has a great attitude, and we think he has the ability to reach his potential with our club.”
Blessing won the goal king award for the just ended Ghana Premier League season, his 17 goals crucial in keeping Liberty Professionals in the top flight. He won the best player of the year award, and was a member of the provisional 26 man Black Stars squad before he was dropped.
