It’s official – Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been sworn in as the fifth President of Ghana’s fourth republic.
The 72 year old took his oath of office minutes ago during the inauguration ceremony currently ongoing at the Black Star Square in Accra.
Prior to his swearing in, his deputy, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, took the Vice Presidential oath to ascend into the office.
Nana takes over as Commander in Chief after defeating ex-President John Dramani Mahama in elections held on December 7. Nana polled 53.85% to Mahama’s 44.40%.
