1. Jerry John Rawlings – Rawlings Chain
During the tenure of Ghana’s longest serving president, the country was wrought with one failed coup or the other. It got so bad it affected the management of the country leaving to severe food shortages in the country.
Make no mistake, the “Rawlings chain” is no gold or diamond chain that the then president wore. People got very thin to the extent their collar bone was very visible.
It was very common to see people with overexposed collar and Ghanaians being our usual self started calling it Rawlings Chain.
The next time you hear a Ghanaian tell you to cover your “Rawlings Chain”, know that he is asking you to gain some weight.
