Ododiodio MP Nii Lante Vanderpuye has revealed that President John Dramani Mahama would be the flagbearer of the NDC in the 2020 elections, whether he wants to be or not.
Nii Lante was the guest on Starr Drive Wednesday, and he made the ‘revelation’ during his interview, saying the NDC would push the outgoing President to challenge Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the Presidency once again.
“We’ll force John Mahama to go,” Nii Lante said, indicating a groundswell of support from both party officials and supporters would apply pressure on Mahama to run.
He added that current Veep Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur would not be allowed to run and if he did, it would be a ‘betrayal’ on his part.
“If John Mahama will not go, Amissah-Arthur will not go,” he added.
Asked who would run then if both the current President and his Veep were not running, Nii Lante could not identify any particular candidate, although he also ruled out runs for Julius Debrah and Ekow Spio Garbrah.
