The firebrand Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Hon Kennedy Agyepong, has accused the first lady of being involved in the rampant corruption ongoing at the Ghana Cocoa Board, corruption he has promised the NPP would root out once they come into power.
According to Kennedy, a certain Lordina won a contract with the organisation to supply chemicals to cocoa sheds across the country, a contract won through sole sourcing and not by going through the usual tendering process.
A suspicious Kennedy Agyepong noted that the CEO of COCOBOD, Dr Stephen Opuni, should come clear about who this ‘Lordina’ is and whether it is the first lady.
“I want to ask Dr Opuni who is Lordina under the Cocoa Health and Extension mandated to supply chemicals to cocoa sheds”, Agyepong wondered.
According to him, the mysterious ‘Lordina’ contract is just one of many corrupt practices ongoing at the board, adding that the NPP have every intention of pursuing the issue once they take over.
“Opuni should get ready because we are coming after him to answer questions about his tenure as CEO of Cocobod”, he ominously added.
