Embattled South African leader Jacob Zuma probably had weightier issues on his mind when he lost a chess game to a 13 year old girl.
The game was part of a competition organised by Zuma’s foundation as part of effort to develop the critical thinking skills of the next generation.
South Africa’s ENCA reported on the historic victory….
President Jacob Zuma went head-to-head with 13-year-old Nokwanda Gcaba in a game of chess on Tuesday.
The annual chess tournament took place in Mandeni in KwaZulu-Natal.
It was a closely-fought game, and President Zuma put up a good defence.
But in the end he was outwitted by the 13-year-old girl and the teenager happily took the presiden’ts pawns.
The tournament is organised by the Jacob G Zuma Foundation and has been running since 2009.
“The competition is aimed at developing strategic young thinkers,” said Zuma.
