Gbese Leaders Give Nii Ayi Bonte Seven Days Ultimatum – Step Down Or Be Forced To

nii-ayi-bonte
Kingmakers in the Gbese kingdom have handed a seven day ultimatum to their sitting chief, Nii Ayi Bonte, to abdicate his throne as he promised or be forced off of it.
The kingmakers, addressing the press in Accra Wednesday, said that the chief’s conduct had breached the constitution and the royal code of ethics and that if he did not have enough moral fibre to step down the decision would be made for him.
The Gbese chief famously promised before the election that if the NDC, which he believed had carried out massive developmental projects in his area, lost, he would abdicate his throne. (you can watch that beautiful video here)
The NDC massively lost, both Presidential and Parliamentary elections, and the chief has since gone silent on the issue. Efforts to get him to talk have failed, even when the President-elect paid a visit on a delegation of Ga chiefs, including himself.
“Nii Ayi Bonte was part of the delegation of chiefs who met the president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo during a meeting with the Ga Traditional Council.” myjoyonline reports.
“Efforts by the media to get him to speak on the day of the meeting failed. With his golden crown firmly placed on his head, the chief chose an obscure place to sit at the back.”

Following calls for him to keep to his word and step down, spokesperson of the Gbese Kingmakers, Nuumo Okai Keteku says the chief – known in private life as Thomas Okine – has seven days to step down or the kingmakers would be forced to act.

  1. I wonder how some people take this Ndc things serious like that? Ndc is one evil party that will destroy you and your entire career if you follow them. I just hope this chief learn proper morals next time.
