The Ghana Centre for Democratic Governance (CDD) has released their annual district league table at a launch ceremony held in Accra Thursday.
According to the Centre, the La Nkwantanang-Madina district topped the league table for the year, thus adjudged as the best district in Ghana for 2016.
La Nkwantanang-Madina beat out Tema Metropolitian, last year’s table toppers, to the first position, whilst Tema slipped down to second.
The CDD-Ghana, in conjunction with UNICEF and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, release the District League Table (DLT) every year, assessing the performances of the districts in Ghana. Districts are rated on six key areas – Education, Sanitation, Rural Water, Health, Security and Governance.
The North Tongu district in the Volta Region finished dead last on the table.
