Fatherhood has reshaped Orlando Bloom’s outlook on the world.
The Lord of the Rings actor has a five-year-old son, Flynn, with model ex-wife Miranda Kerr, and opened up about how becoming a dad helped him become more responsible and compassionate as he attended UNICEF’s 70th Anniversary Event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City on Monday.
Orlando has been a UNICEF ambassador for over 10 years, and admits his status as a father has had a noticeable effect on his charitable work.
“Being a father, you know, you kind of have a new sense of responsibility,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight, adding that he felt his “level of compassion” has grown since Flynn’s arrival.
“I’ve seen the work that it does to actually make a difference in communities around the world and I couldn’t be more honoured to be a part of it and to celebrate 70 years tonight.”
