Lord have mercy Scores of supporters and sympathisers of the New Patriotic Party troop to the principal streets across the country when the electoral commission announced the result of the 2016 general elections going for their party.
Since Friday, 9th of December, they have been scores of reportage claiming the NPP supporters vandalising and seizing government properties all in the name of their presidential candidate being the President-elect of the republic of Ghana.
Several photos of NDC branded cars having their wind screens smashed—other celebrities who endorsed the ruling party are claiming they are being persecuted by some members of the NPP. Mr Beautiful was the first of such celebrities to come public with an assault on his home leading to the process of his wife being slapped according to him.
There is also pictures of W)fa K claiming he has been slashed with cutlass on the hands and at the back and aide of his head by a group of NPP supporters he knows.
In times like this comes with the illiteracy and intolerance of political animals clothed with party colours and blinded by their quest to be seen working for their party.
Mind you this is not the first of its kind in this country when a government has to hand over power to the opposition. Similar cases happened in the years 2000 and 2008.
We even had government officials being slapped in traffic while they drive their cars. These barbaric and uncouth behavior happens as a result of provocation, which happened when an NDC supporter had to drive an NDC branded car through the celebration of NPP supporters.
Settling of old personal scores, which a classical example happened at Sunyani where two young boys in their early 20’s had to engage in a fist cuff to settle an old score on the day of their celebration, and shear ignorance and stupidity.
The injured person according to report was immediately rushed to the Sunyani government hospital for treatment while his attacker has been taken into police custody and is assisting police in their investigations. Police confirmed the incident to ultimatefmonline.com, but promised to step up measures in averting such occurrence in the coming days.
Sometimes people who get attacked too is as a result of how they conducted their campaign for their preferred candidate as against the candidate who won.
It is time the Ghana police prove to Ghanaians they are working for us and will ensure the safety of every Ghanaian no matter your political linings.
I guess if arrests and proper prosecutions are made.it will deter people from repeating such stone age attitude.
