Electoral Commission Chair Charlotte Osei finally declared the results of the 2016 Presidential elections Friday night, a full 48 hours after voting ended the night of December 7.
Mrs Osei declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo the President-elect, taking the hot seat at the EC headquarters to address the media.
Minus the results of four final constituencies, Nana Akuffo-Addo received 5,716,026 votes representing 53.85% of the total votes cast. President John Dramani Mahama came second with 4,713, 277, representing 44.40% of the votes cast.
The rest of the candidates had: Papa Kwesi Nduom 105, 682, Ivor Greenstreet 25,395, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings 16,878, Dr Edward Mahama 22, 214 and Joseph Osei Yeboah 15, 889.
Nana Akuffo-Addo takes office on 7 January, 2016.
