"Let's Allow EC To Carry Out Its Constitutional Mandate" – President Mahama Attempts To Calm Fears Over Delay Of The Release Of Election Results

The President, John Dramani Mahama, has called for Ghanaians to remain calm and allow the Electoral Commission to carry out its constitutionally mandated duty of declaring the results.
Ghanaians all across the country voted on December 7, yet with nearly two days gone since then the results are still not certified by the national body, with only portions of it trickling in from the EC.
The delay has led to both major parties claiming victory for themselves and ramped up the tension in the country. The NPP, especially, feel there is some monkey business in the air since their candidate is undoubtedly in the lead and the likeliest President elect.
The President has been nearly quiet on the issue all along as his party leaders claim they are in the lead, and with a post on social media, he has called for Ghanaians to be patient for the EC to carry out its work.

“Let’s allow EC to carry out its constitutional mandate. We’ll make Ghana proud no matter outcome.” – President Mahama on twitter.

The electoral commission, for their part, have called on Ghanaians to relax as they have a 72 hour grace period to deliver the election results.
