The mass exodus of some very, long established MP’s continue as the NDC MP for La Dadekotpon, Nii Amasah Namoale, has also been kicked out of office by the people of the constituency.
In a keenly contested race with the NPP’s Vincent Odotei Sowah, Namaole failed to extend his 12 year stay in Parliament, losing to the NPP candidate popularly known in the constituency as ‘Obama’.
Obama garnered 40,126 votes, beating Namoale’s final tally of 38,504. The sitting MP had been in office since taking the seat in the 2004 elections.
In an interesting turn of events, President Mahama won the Presidential elections in the constituency, getting 42,025 to Nana Akuffo-Addo’s 37,109 – illustrating what is generally described as ‘skirt and blouse’ in Ghanaian politics.
