Dancehall king Shatta Wale shocked no one when he appeared at the NDC’s final campaign rally at the Accra Sports Stadium Monday.
Shatta Wale had preached neutrality throughout the campaign and said he was affiliated to no party, even allowing both to use hit tracks of his.
But with two days to election day, he appeared on stage for one party and performed ‘Mahama Paper’, the party’s signature campaign tune which, somehow, contains the name of the party’s Presidential candidate.
It’s easy to see how that might be read as an endorsement of that party, but Shatta Wale maintains that was not his intention at all. In a post on social media not long after, Shatta said his performance was simply business.
Its all business … i thank God for bringing me this far …. Take or leave it .. we have created a whole history in this blessfull world … Shatta wale shatta wale shatta wale shatta wale!!!! #champiooooooon

Ghana goes to the polls in less than 24 hours, and for many people the last image of campaigning they would see is Shatta Wale hugging the President and his wife and performing ‘Mahama Paper’. It’s difficult to call that not an endorsement.
