The Harlem-based rap star was hit with a $100,000 (£78,500) lawsuit after it was claimed he had left the apartment in “ruins”.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the landlord alleged he had turned a closet in the apartment into a recording studio, removed a chandelier and security camera, and damaged the downstairs bathroom.
A$ap reportedly promised the landlord he would restore the pad to its original state after making a few alterations, but the lawsuit alleged he left the place “in ruins”.
According to TMZ.com, A$AP has now filed a countersuit which alleges the landlord was negligent in maintaining the building, and as a result it caused two floods in the apartment – one of which required the rapper to move out and rent another place for a month.
He adds in the documents that whatever changes he made actually increased the value of the property and, as a result, he is suing for the return of his $40,000 (£31,000) security deposit, plus damages.
