Bags Of Thumb-Printed Ballot Papers Found In Kumasi Hotel Are Fake – DCOP Kofi Boakye

the bags stuffed with the ballot papers

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Kofi Boakye, has revealed that the bags of already thumb printed ballot papers found at a hotel in the Ashanti Region contained fake ballots.
Social media was abuzz Monday morning with news of bags of ballot papers found at the Madison Hotel at TUC in Kumasi, with President Mahama’s likeness already thumb printed.
With fears of rigging rife among the opposition parties, the news spread like wildfire and generated massive debate.
But in a swift response, Kofi Boakye says the papers have been checked and found to be fake.
He said the Electoral Commission’s regional director, Serebour Quarcoo, has checked and declared the ballots as fake.
“He [Quarcoo] came saying it was not part of the materials which means they are fake,”Boakye said.
He said the brouhaha in the media over the papers was “irresponsible, unnecessary and uncalled for.”
