HE DID IT: Wole Soyinka Tears Up Green Card As Promised

Wole Soyinka

Nigerian literary legend and Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has followed up on his promise and ‘torn up’ his green card.
The 82 year old promised before the US elections that if Trump won, he would tear up his green card immediately.
After the real estate mogul shocked the world and actually won the election, pressure started mounting on the Professor to keep his word and tear up the card. It led to him writing this tome essentially giving the middle finger to his critics and claiming he would do so on his own time.
That time is here, apparently.
He told AFP, on the sidelines of an education conference at the University of Johanessburg, that he has indeed torn up the residence card and has relocated back to his motherland.

“I have already done it, I have disengaged [from the United States]. I have done what I said I would do.” he told the press agency.
“I had a horror of what is to come with Trump… I threw away the [green] card, and I have relocated, and I’m back to where I have always been.”
He added: “It’s useful in many ways; I wouldn’t for one single moment discourage any Nigerians or anybody from acquiring a green card… … but I have had enough of it.”
