The Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Bugri Naabu, has come out to confirm allegation of bribery levelled against the President by the NPP.
At a press conference in the capital Tuesday, the NPP claimed President Mahama once met Bugri privately and bribed him with Ghc 500,000 and a V8 Toyota land cruiser to denigrate Nana Addo and paint him as someone who does not care for Northerners.
Naabu has not been heard from since the allegation, which the NDC has denied, but he has now broken his silence. Speaking to Atinka Fm earlier today, Naabu issued a terse statement confirming the issue.
“It is true. I think they’ve shown you the car, I believe they didn’t just call the press conference, so, there’s no doubt about that, but you can call later. Thank you,” he said, cutting short the conversation.
Numerous NDC figures, from party General Secretary Asiedu Nketia to Kofi Adams and Koku Anyidoho have all rubbished the allegation. The President has yet to comment on it.
