The Appeals Court have overturned the conviction for causing financial loss to the state handed to former GNPC head Tsatsu Tsikata in 2008.
In a ruling handed down today (Wednesday), the court overturned the ruling of the Fast Track High Court, which convicted Tsatsu under the controversial law passed by the Kuffour regime.
The Fast Track Court in 2008 convicted Tsikata after GNPC acted as guarantor in a loan of Ghc 230,000 taken by Valley Farms, who later defaulted, forcing GNPC to pay.
The court found Tsikata to have caused financial loss to the state due to the deal, sentencing him to a jail term which was later commuted by former President Kuffour before leaving office.
But Tsikata rejected the pardon, instead fighting the conviction to have his name cleared.
