Rap dacta Okyeame Kwame is set to join the extremely short list of Ghanaians to have received the keys to a US City when he gets honoured by the city of Cincinnati in a ceremony Monday.
The ‘keys to the city’ is a ceremonial honour that has gained momentum in recent times, with recipients symbolically seen as being granted hero status for their achievements.
The rapper, born Kwame Nsiah Apau, would be presented with the honour keys by the mayor of the Ohio based city – John Cranley. The event is being organised by the Black Nurses Association of Cincinnati in partnership with the Ghanaian community in Cincinnati.
Okyeame Kwame has been at the forefront o the fight against Hepatitis B in Ghana for a while now, and the honour recognises that. He would hold a benefits and awareness raising concert for the malaise whilst in Ohio.
