The judge presiding over the wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of Bobbi Kristina Brow against Nick Gordon has ruled in favour of the family, handing down a huge judgement against Gordon.
Bobbi Kristina’s long time boyfriend has been accused of abusing her and driving her substance abuse addition which eventually led to her drowning in a bathtub.
After her death, her estate sued Gordon for wrongful death, asking for $40m in damages.
Gordon lost the case by default after failing to appear in court, and the judge awarded $36m in his ruling.
“Bobbi suffered such horrific pain and degradation at the hands of Nick Gordon”. a spokesperson for the family said after the verdict.
“[He was] the man she loved and trusted. No one should suffer the way she did and the judge sent a strong message in the award of punitive damages that this despicable behaviour is inexcusable and will not be tolerated,”
Bobbi died in July last year after slipping from a six month coma, which occurred in February 2015 when she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her home in Atlanta.
Her death stemmed from very similar circumstances to her mum’s – legendary recording artist Whitney Houston – who was found dead in a bathtub back in 2012.
