The Black Princesses of Ghana fell to a second consecutive late goal as they were held 2-2 by the French U-20 women’s team at the ongoing Fifa world cup in Papua New Guinea
Ghana lost 1-0 to New Zealand in the first group game and needed a win here to get their campaign back on track – but a last gasp goal denied the team a positive result as France drew level in the game.
Delphine Cascarino put the French ahead in the 20th minute of the game. Sandra Owusu Ansah got Ghana the equaliser just before half time and Jane Ayieyam pulled the Princesses ahead in the second half.
Ghana missed a penalty chance to move 3-1 up, and were then punished by the French who converted a 94th minute header to draw the game level.
Ghana now needs a mini miracle to qualify as they have to beat the USA and hope results in the other game goes their way.
