Notorious armed robber Johnson Kombian attempted his millionth prison break at the Nsawam Prisons Sunday except this time, he was caught before he could escape.
Kombian and two other cell mates were found in the main prison yard around midnight on Sunday, having somehow made their way from the ‘condemned cells’.
They were captured and sent back to their cells.
The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service, DSP Courage Atsem,, comfirmed the incident to Citi Fm and said an investigation has been launched.
“What I can confirm is that, there was an attempted escape [Sunday], which was foiled by the officers on duty. Everybody is in intact . The Police have began a full scale investigations into the incident to get the full details of what occurred.”
Kombian is currently awaiting the execution of a death sentence after receiving that judgment at his second trial for murdering two police officers.

He had earlier broke jail in Tamale when he was serving a seven year sentence for armed robbery, and killed the two officers who were after him whilst he was on the run.
