Full disclosure: I don’t like T.B Joshua. I think he’s an opportunistic charlatan who gives out vague messages with no expiry date which he then insensitively uses to claim credit in the aftermath of a disaster. People would die and T.B Joshua would smugly come to claim credit for it – except when it’s his own church members deaths then his prophetic powers vanish.
His church is also like the world’s second biggest wrestling organisation – putting on carefully choreographed shows meant to deceive people he has some sort of otherworldy powers to draw them in to keep fueling his million dollar empire.
On Sunday, T.B Joshua gave a ‘prophecy’ that even for his standards, seems so brazen and shocking. I generally can’t stand it when preachers claim to prophesy but when you say something that anyone with an iota of common sense can deduce, you cannot very well claim it to be a ‘prophecy’.
A prophecy is by divine inspiration, the religious would have us believe – so by necessity it should be knowledge that is not available to the common man on the street. If T.B Joshua had simply predicted what would happen in the election, I would have no bone to pick here. But by claiming this arrived to him by supernatural means he opens himself up to criticism.
Let’s first see exactly what he claimed…
Ten days ago, I saw the new President of America with a narrow win. The new President will be facing several challenges over many issues, including: passing bills, attempts to possibly pass a vote of no confidence on the new President. The boat of the new President will be rocked.”
For starters, we are less than 48 hours from the election, the polls have stabilised and most pundits believe Mrs Clinton would indeed eke out a win. God is omnipresent and omniscient, so why wait till this late stage to reveal to Joshua what he’s always known?
Here’s another curious thing – Joshua claims he received the prophecy about ten days ago, yet he’s now giving it out. Why the delay? Hillary Clinton has had a comfortable lead in the polls since the race began, bar a two week stretch after the Republican National Convention – and the only time her lead has been seriously threatened was when FBI director James Comey wrote a letter to Congress October 28 with the news that he had found more emails. October 28 is exactly ten days from Sunday!
So if he really did get a vision then, why not reveal it last Sunday? Was it because that was around the same time the Clinton campaign was taking a beating from the fall-out of the letter and Trump’s campaign was on the ascendancy? Was it because around that time a Trump win looked plausible for the first time in months?
There would be something to be said for a prophecy of a Trump win at this time, that’s a prophecy that would take some balls. About the only real thing he said was that the margin would be close, which again, is because of the letter that rocked Clinton’s campaign and shrunk her overall lead over Trump.
Also claiming that Clinton would face strong opposition in office is so obvious it’s insulting he would describe it as a ‘prophecy’. If there is one politician Republicans hate more than Barack Obama that would be Mrs Clinton, and some have even indicated that they would work to impeach her in office. Stating the obvious and calling it a ‘prophecy’ is insulting in the highest degree.
I understand that within his target audience, his uninformed masses who bring him their coins every Sunday, such a prophecy would sound all knowing. But to those with actual information who don’t bury their heads in just the Bible as the only source of ‘knowledge’, it’s really insulting and belittles their intelligence. I wouldn’t have touched it if he had just said he was making a prediction on the election, but claiming this came from God when every single thing he said was so obvious makes it impossible to ignore.
Let’s not pretend we do not all know he would smugly tell his congregation this weekend that his ‘prophecy’ has come true.
I’ve agreed with your concerns many a time. But your assertions this time is over the bar , not because I have special interest in the man Tb Joshua.
oh Chris! Why? What about if he had predicted that Trump was going to win the elections, would you have insulted him? Have you soon forgotten about Brexit? The “obvious” never materialized so what are you talking about? Is it wrong for him to confirm the obvious. Please post your scripts with such sense of decency and stop attacking this man wrongly.
All correct sir
Honestly Chris, I can have as many correct predictions as T.B.
This fake Ghanaian yeyebrity pages alays keep attacking and insulting people opinions all the time, do u have to insult him because of his freedom of speech! Nonsense fake page of yours.
hahaha now who is the father of all liars now, huh?
Excuse my language but you see how stupid you are for posting this article. Even though, the predictions of TB Joshua didn’t materialize, did you realize that the unexpected happened instead of the obvious? Please post articles with some sense of decency in order to make this website a credible one. Thank you!!!
