Akua Donkor Announces She's Getting Back In The Presidential Elections After Supreme Court Ordered EC To Extend Nomination Period

Madam Akua Donkor says even though she had decided on getting out of the Presidential race, the decision of the Supreme Court to extend the nomination process has made her change her mind and she would now rejoin the race.
The Supreme Court earlier today (Monday) ruled that the Electoral Commission should extend the nomination period to the close of Tuesday, November, 8 2016 for all disqualified presidential aspirants to get the chance to refile their candidacy.
The court also ordered a suspension of all lawsuits challenging the EC’s disqualifications of flagbearers, for all those affected to amend the errors on their forms.
Akua Donkor, who was one of the earlier disqualified aspirants but who did not challenge her disqualification, has said that she is stepping back into the race.
According to her, with this opportunity afforded her, she would jump immediately into the race.
“I am happy at the court’s ruling…at least it offers me the opportunity to make necessary corrections to my nomination forms.” she told Abusua Fm.
“I had decided not to contest the elections again so that I can support President Mahama’s campaign, but the Supreme Court ruling has inspired hope in me,” she added.
“I can’t blame Chalotte Osei so much for my disqualification because she was only applying the law fairly but since the court has provided us with this opportunity, we will grab it.
“I am currently in the Central Region, but I will stop whatever am doing now and rash back to Accra to work on my nomination forms,” Madam Donkor added.
