Hilary Clinton’s lead in the polls has shrunk dramatically within the last week following another twist in her e-mail scandal, a letter from the FBI director to Congress that more emails had been discovered.
The news left her reeling and gained Donald Trump 2-3 points in the polls, making the race tighter than ever as election day looms large.
On Friday night, the Clinton campaign held a major get out the vote concert in Cleveland, Ohio, with Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z headlining the event. Aside Jay, other rappers such as Chance, Big Sean and J-Cole also appeared to perform.
But the night’s biggest surprise occurred when Jay-Z’s significant other, the pop queen Beyonce, made a surprise appearance at the show. Beyonce delivered an emotional appeal to the crowd to vote for the first woman President, taking cognisance of how far women’s rights have advanced within the last century.
“Less than 100 years ago, women did not have the right to vote,” Beyonce said to the crowd. “Look how far we’ve come from having no voice to being on the brink of making history by electing the first woman president. But we have to vote.
“The world looks to us as a progressive country that leads change. Eight years ago, I was so inspired that my nephew, a young black child, could grow up knowing his dreams could be realized by witnessing a black president in office.
“And now, we have the opportunity to create more change. I want my daughter to grow up seeing a woman lead our country and know that her possibilities are limitless.
“We have to think about the future of our daughters, of our sons, and vote for someone who cares for them as much as we do,” Beyoncé added. “And that is why, ‘I’m with her.'”
Jay-Z also addressed the rally, before Mrs Clinton herself took the stage to wild applause.
