Political campaigning in Ghana is not exactly at a very sophisticated level, with dialogue reduced to call your opponents names and trying to degrade their character in the eyes of the public. When the discourse turns to issues it’s with so much superficial arguments that it’s not particularly worth having.
Take George Andah, NPP Parliamentary candidate in the Awutu Senya constituency in the Central Region. Mr Andah is a former highly regarded business executive who worked with MTN Ghana, now contesting Foreign Minister Hannah Tetteh for her seat.
Speaking during a rally at Bawjiase, Mr Andah brought his wife on stage. He invited her to come and introduced her to the crowd, before saying that Hannah Tetteh should also introduce her husband to the people of the town.
How he having a spouse, or Tetteh not having one, would impact on the kind of work they can execute whilst in office is of course, not explained. It’s just a politician passing a comment intended to hurt another politician needlessly.
