6 Attitudes Trotro Mates Exhibit That Completely Annoy Us; When They Deliberately Decide To Forget Your Change

The most awful place to be when already frustrated but fun place to be, when you have decided to smile no matter what is in the trotro in Ghana. Many are the funny and kill joy scenes in an ordinary day in a trotro bus. Looking back and ahead, these are some of the moments, that will keep replaying it self in a trotro bus, till thy kingdom come. If you don't know naked frustration and annoyance in human form, then let's go on a journey with my six trotro mates. Flip next to read. 1. Bus Stops Ghanaians in general knows best that, to avoid a commercial bus (trotro) taking you beyond your destination or leaving you behind your destination, especially when you are new in the area, is to sometimes continually yell your bus stop. Yet these stubborn bus conductors (trotro mates) will either tell you "I didn't hear" or "we don't stop here" or "because of the traffic, we ain't going ahead again, so alight" when they take you beyond your bus stop or behind your bus stop. To most passengers, the idea of walking back or ahead to reach your their destination is most annoying and awkward situation. There trotro mates whom I think take delight in annoying their passengers, because it never cease to occur. 2. Change This change is not the political type. It is a term loosely used to mean, your balance after paying your fare in a commercial bus (trotro). Ghanaian bus conductors (trotro mates) are notorious for the act of making you forget your change with their senile line "me nni nsesa" to wit, " I don't have change". When in fact there is enough money in his hands to be able to give you your balance. Every two out of five Ghanaians had fall and will fall victim to this notorious act of the trotro mates. They make you lose focus and track on your balance, so you can alight without remembering your balance out of the fare you paid. You are a natural enemy if you insist on having your change handed immediately. As I am writing, I was just a victim to this notorious type of trotro mates. Annoyance is the feeling I feel and you have felt as you remember your similar encounter. 3. Passenger Picking If you had ever sat and is sitting next to a bus conductor(trotro mate), I salute you as you read this part. No matter how passengers protest, the car is full, the seat of the trotro mate will go for that obese passenger by the road side without any consultations between him and that of the passengers on the row the trotro mate has his seat. This trotro mates make no attempt to be politically correct. Most passengers including myself, regard the seat lane that has the trotro mate on it with disdain. Yet through the pressing and squeezing of tinny co-passengers like myself, by obese ones. You will be asked to pay your fare in full. What is so annoying than this. I bet none!!! This type of trotro mates are happy mood eaters. 4. Charging Again The most irritating and annoying thing, is to be asked to pay your fare again in a commercial bus (trotro) when you had already paid because of the bus conductor's attention disorder or due to sometimes passengers changing seats. Can they be serious? Instead of them focusing on the columns and the faces of the passengers in the car when taking their money, and where each passenger will alight. They will be busily telling the driver to increase the volume of a "nonfa" song on the radio. I know sometimes passengers feel like freeing their minds on this avoidable annoyance but choose to ignore the trotro mates. 5. Their Unapologetic Insolence Due to the competition in passenger picking, it has become apparent for bus conductors(trotro mates) to wave at or check on anyone by the road side, if they will go anywhere. Some of these trotro mates take it to the extreme, as if everyone is suppose to board a commercial bus(trotro) hence your answer not being what they expect, will proceed to abuse literary. In fact this their illiterate attitude can be annoying. It just cut to the bone when waiting for someone at the bus stop in this scorching sun in our part of the world. I am sure you can attest to that feeling? 6. The Choir Masters Trust me this type of bus conductors(trotro mates) can make a good choir for the tormentor in the underworld. They will try to sing every song that will be played on the car's radio. With their not so perfect voices and coarse tones, disturbing ones peace of mind and focus after a hard days work. They get you angry, early in the morning on your way to work with their off key style of singing. The funny thing is, you will try to understand them and listening to them, over and over again. Yet they will not get one word in the lyrics pronounced correctly. I mean how? How can passengers be subjected to this mental torture and be asked to pay their fares? Your anger swells yet can't act on it. Even the few ones that act on their anger, gets the silent treatment as they torture your ears and peace of mind. If one does not know frustration, then that's frustration when you encounter any one of the few annoying moments above. Until you ask another passenger, his or her previous encounter with those annoyance in human form, in disguise of trotro mates, you will never know where you have gotten to. With your anger as a result of the annoyance, crowding your attention everyday in the Ghanaian commercial bus, trotro.
