New Edubiase United President Says Kotoko Fans' Curses Led To His Team's Relegation

President of the relegated Premier League Club New Edubiase United, Yakubu Abdul Salam, has the most ridiculous reason ever for why his team was relegated – curses invoked on them by fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Abdul Salam was speaking on Angel Fm when he made the ridiculous claim, essentially sticking a knife into all we know of reason and logic in this world. It’s enough to make you wonder how he arose to be President of ANYTHING, let alone a football club.
New Edubiase would be playing in the second division next season, and according to Yakubu, the only reason they are going down is curses from fans of Kotoko after his team beat them both home and away.
‘I blame Kotoko supporters for our (New Edubiase’s) relegation. The curses they invoked on us after we beat them home and away was too much,” Yakubu told Angel FM.
”What is wrong if New Edubiase beat Kotoko? Should I sit and be allowing Kotoko and Hearts to beat me, I will never allow that to happen.” he continued.
”Some journalists in Kumasi always sit on radio and insult me because I beat Kotoko, they never accept defeat, now I have to play against Nzema Kotoko, which is what they want, I supported Hearts when I was a kid, but since I formed New Edubiase , I have always support New Edubiase.” Yakubu added.
Belief in the ability of the supernatural to affect football games (popularly known as ‘ways and means’) is rampant in Ghana, so this is no surprise. Hearing a club head saying it so brazenly on radio and blaming an entire season on it is quite a little jarring though.
