Hiplife star Mzbel says she sometimes regrets becoming a celebrity as people throw all sorts of abuses her way online and it sometimes makes her cry, alone in her room.
The ’16 Years’ hitmaker, born Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, is one of the most controversial artists in the country – both for her style of music and recently, her politics – and to say she receives frequent abuse would be an understatement.
Speaking on GTV, the vocal NDC supporter said that the abuse sometimes breaks her down to the point she cries.
“I can tell you for a fact that sometimes I sit and cry when I am alone at home because of the treatment meted out to some of us openly.” she said on E-Spot.
“It becomes worse on social media when you know clearly that the person talking about you does not really know you that much as they claim but they go ahead to speak all the negative things about you and your brand”
Mzbel added that had she followed her initial path of being a video editor, all these might not have happened. Those are the times she regrets becoming a celebrity.
“I often regret this position as a female celebrity because if I had been my video editor that I started when I was growing up, I am not sure we would have gotten to this situation but as it stands, I can`t change it but I regret often” she added.
But then video editor Mzbel would not be that famous and get to flaunt her body all over our screens. Online trolls come with fame and fortune.
