Justice Paul Uuter Dery, one of the justices implicated in the Anas investigative report into judicial corruption who has fought the case all the way to the Supreme Court, has met his final demise as the court has thrown out his case against Anas.
Paul Dery had claimed that Anas’ company, Tiger Eye PI, had no locus to petition the President for his removal from the High Court, attempting to establish that Tiger EYE was not duly registered in the country.
But ruling on the long running suit, a five member panel of the country’s highest court unanimously ruled that Dery’s case had no merit.
In the scathing judgement, the panel said Dery’s case was a red herring which was simply to distract from the substantive case of the corruption allegations against him uncovered by the investigative work of Anas.
Dery is one of the 22 High Court Justices implicated in the judicial scandal uncovered by Anas, and has sued Anas and numerous other entities since the video was aired, remaining adamant that Anas’ work was illegal.
He would face a judicial panel in the coming weeks to decide whether he would be removed from the court or returned from his running suspension.
