Hearts of Oak interim manager Yaw Preko has stepped down from his position after just over a couple months in charge, citing personal reasons.
Yaw Preko’s resignation was handed to the club’s top hierarchy late Friday, a decision that had been long in coming but still a shock to fans.
The former player was placed in interim charge after Portuguese Sergio Traguil failed to turn the fortunes of the club following the sacking of Japanese Kenichi Yatsuhashi.
After leading the team to a third place finish, his future has been shrouded in mystery as the club delayed in permanently handing him the job despite strong clamour from the fans.
A lack of proper pre-season preparation also made Preko feel his position had become untenable, prompting him to step down.
Hearts now have a short window to find a new trainer to take charge of the team ahead of the new season.
