The Accra High Court hearing the case brought by the National Democratic Party (NDP) against the Electoral Commission (EC) has been sumarily dismissed by the trial judge after determining the EC were justified in taking out Nana Konadu.
The judge ruled that the NDP flouted EC rules in failing to properly fill out their forms thus making the EC justified in disqualifying their candidate from the race.
Justice George Koomson said the NDP’s actions made their case ‘incompetent’.
The Electoral Commission disqualified the NDP Presidential candidate, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, as well as 11 others, for committing numerous administrative errors in their filing documents. Most have threatened legal action but this blow to the NDP means the rest are likely to receive similar treatments in their own cases – giving the EC the all clear to concentrate on running the December polls as best as they can.
