President John Dramani has thrown a jab the way of his opponent for the office, NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, claiming that the latter is like football spectators who sit on the sidelines and arrogantly believe they can do better than those actually playing on the pitch.
The President was speaking to party faithfuls in the Eastern Regional town of Kade Tuesday when he debuted the new line of attack.
“If you go to the stadium you will think the spectators are better than Dede Ayew and the rest and they usually go like ‘if I were him, I would have played it this way’ but when you give him the chance that person cannot even throw his leg,”the President said.
“So those of us who are working need to be focused and continue to do the work that the people of Ghana voted us to do,” he added.
The President also inaugurated the newly completed Takrowase SHS, one of the new edifices being built under the Community Day SHS initiative instituted by his government.
The President’s analogy fails to take into consideration that if the player was not Dede Ayew but Rahim Ayew, then yes, the spectator who has also played professional football all his life can also shout – ‘hey, I can play better than that guy.’
