Recently the mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuye, was pictured portraying himself as a real ‘man of the people’.
Vanderpuye, who’s contesting for the Ablekuma South Parliamentary seat on the NDC ticket, was shown braiding people’s hair and ‘driving’ their banku in a real show of how ‘down to earth’ he’s supposed to be.
Except he has one huge blot from the past showing how he really is!
In the aftermath of the June 3 disaster, one of the worst days in Ghanaian history, the Accra mayor was photographed walking in the rain, with an officer holding an umbrella over his head. It drew significant backlash at the time, and has now come up again in light of his recent antics.
So is he really a down to earth politican who has no trouble mingling with the people, or he’s a pompous elitist who thinks he’s too good to hold and umbrella.
Which is the real Oko?
