The Progressive People’s Party have dragged the Electoral Commission to court in its never ending battle to fight the disqualification of Party flagbearer Papa Kwesi Nduom.
In a suit filed at an Accra High Court Friday, lawyers for the party are calling on the court to order the EC to stop the balloting processes until Dr Nduom is reinstated in the race and allowed to file his documents.
The Electoral Commission during the week announced that 12 candidates have been disqualified from contesting in the polls following administrative errors rampant on their filing forms.
Dr Nduom was one of those candidates, and the suit, led by former Attorney General Ayikoi Otoo, states that those errors cannot be the basis of the disqualification of a candidature. The PPP thus prays the court to order the EC to allow the party make the necessary alterations on the document and re-submit them to the Commission.
