Growing up, we wanted to be a lot of things— some of these things that we have only come to realise with age and time that we never could have been.
When it came to choosing what we wanted to be in the near future, though indecisive it was as if we all towed the same pattern.
As a Ghanaian child who still asks for pocket money from your parent , it is only when you decide to be on your own that you tell your parents that you wanted to be anything aside the overly rated professions that has ever walked this earth.
And I am talking about the doctors and lawyers and bankers and all the white collar jobs. You just know better than to allow your miniature mind to wander in the realms of painting , music, fashion designer and such lots.
I do not know about the children of other countries, but I know a lot a about the children of Ghana. The Ghanaian child is so creative they themselves have not realised it. I bet if you give them the ball of a deodorant, you will be amazed at what they will produce out of it.
Growing up as a Ghanaian child, I realised my colleagues and I had dreams, dreams of a brighter rich future together with our careers.
We talked so much of what we would be in future and how we would even spend our money. Funny right? Eating our chicks before they hatched.
It will amaze you how when we see persons of our careers on TV and how we celebrate and watch them with all our hearts and ears.
Even in recent times, a lot of parents still force their children into reading courses they have no interest or whatsoever in.
Right up till, I still do not know exactly what I want to in the near “future”— one thing I am certain about is, as a child I wanted to be one of the following. Which one did you want to be ? a lawyer or journalist or newscaster or a pastor?.
